A new puppy is a perfectly good excuse to get some new family photos. This adorable Labrador puppy was a perfectly behaved subject for my pictures yesterday (in a very puppy sort of way…)

Proposal in Santa Barbara

Who doesn’t love an undercover assignment? It does not happen often – but every once in a while I don’t just get to photograph an engagement session… I get to photograph the actual proposal. In this case I was up in Santa Barbara for the surprise proposal. We had worked out a park in advance (Alice Keck) so I arrived early to scout for good locations for “the moment”. When I found a great spot (on a bridge over a little stream) I texted the information over to the would-be-groom and waited.

Of course – the weather was being wonderfully random with severe rain mixed with beautiful sunshine. I sat at the edge of the duck pond taking photos of ducks through the downpours as I waited for their arrival. I was dress in full gortex (including hat) with plastic bags over my camera. I was shooting a 200mm F1.8 lens with a 2x teleconverter for an equivalent of 400mm F3.5. While I waited I ended up taking a few hundred photos of ducks and seagulls… which was also kinda fun

A Beautiful Italian American Wedding

Sara and Peter invited me to capture their wedding day last Saturday. They are a gorgeous couple with a great sense of style so I knew we would come away from the day with a lot of fantastic photos.

My son’s pre-school teacher Ms. Kendra has a new baby girl so she came over for some pictures yesterday. Baby Charlie is absolutely adorable !!

A new lens for me :)

I picked up what is considered a legendary lens from Canon a few days ago. This is a 200mm F1.8 lens that unfortunately weighs in at a little more than 6 pounds. But what it lacks in portability it makes up for with the most spectacular image quality I have ever seen.

Wedding at Moonlight Beach

Moonlight beach has always been a favorite location of mine in San Diego – but somehow I was completely unaware of the nice little park at the top of the cliff where I had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful wedding last weekend. The day started out COLD and rainy but about 30 minutes before the ceremony the temperature warmed up by at least 5 degrees when the sun came out – providing a spectacular backdrop for a fantastic ceremony.

A few birds

I had an hour to kill today so I headed out onto the trails behind our place to see if I could find any nice bird pictures. I’m always seeing hawks and kestrels back there – but I had little hope they would appear when I brought out my big lens. It was not the best time to go birding (12PM) but I got a few keepers:)

These were taken with a Canon 7D at 600mm F10
